several ‘assurance scoring’ tools to the business – models that use machine learning and other techniques to differentiate caseload in high volume transactional areas. these tools empower operational decision makers to streamline handling of cases where we have high confidence, improving service quality and speed of handling, while appropriately prioritising expert scrutiny of the smaller volume of riskier applications. assurance scoring can also reduce the net ‘intrusion’ into the lives of many customers and citizens by reducing the level of data processing or face-to-face contact required software development, and transport scheme design and implementation spanning more than 29 years. richard is currently head of data, modelling & appraisal at transport for the north, leading a team that is developing and applying the north’s first analytical framework within a number of tfn and partner projects and programmes. with a vision to drive efficiencies and consistency across the north
